Delivery Times
Delivery times are estimated between 2-6 week days (monday-saturday). This is due to many factors. Please read below for more detail:
Orders of small items and single bottles are sent using Royal Mail. We normally post using Royal Mail on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and request that orders that are urgent are made the night before, or before 7am on a posting day. During busy periods we use Royal Mail daily to ensure we are doing all we can to get your parcel to you as soon as possible. In November and December, you may have to wait between 4-7 days for your parcel to arrive, this is due to Royal Mail being incredibly busy and weather may affect sailings/flights from our stormy islands. Normally we calculate delivery times as 1 day for dispatch to Royal Mail, one for it to leave Orkney, and one/two for it to travel throughout the UK (however this can sometimes vary slightly).
Orders of larger items (eg.hampers, multiple bottles, multiple items) are posted using Parcelforce, these will take between 3 and 6 working days. We request that orders that are urgent are made the night before, or before 7am on the day you need them dispatched. Though hard to believe, we actually use the 48 hour service, but being on a beautiful island has its drawbacks. We dispatch to Parcelforce on day one, the parcel then leaves Orkney on day two, then normally takes a day or two to travel throughout the UK (this can vary slightly). In November and December, you may have to wait between 4-7 days for your parcel to arrive, this is due to Delivery companies being incredibly busy and weather may affect sailings/flights from our stormy islands.
Not Received your Order?
Please allow for up to 6 working days (monday-saturday), before getting in touch. Please pop us a message using the 'contact us' section, quoting your name (on the order), the order number and what was ordered, or give us a phone on 01856 731700 and we will do our best to help in the next 12 hours.
Tracking Numbers
Rest assured, your order has more than likely been dispatched almost immediately. We do not issue tracking numbers unless directly requested, however a confirmation will be sent (it may be in junk or spam). We do not send tracking information to avoid confusion as Royal Mail Second Class Signed For is not a tracked service. Although we are given numbers, these only show that it is 'with the post office' or 'delivered' - which generally isn't that helpful to you as a customer. If you have any concerns about your order please fill in the form on the 'contact us' page, and we will do our best to help.
Why you Need to be Home to Receive your Order
It's in the bag. You're almost there! This is why you need to be in when the postie drops by. Our gins and spirits contain alcohol, which is illegal to sell to under 18's in the UK. By purchasing a bottle, you are stating that you and the person receiving the alcohol is over 18. If you are lucky enough to look under 18, the post person has been trained to ask for ID on delivery. Don't worry though if you're not home and missed the drop off. They will leave a note for collection.
How it's Wrapped/Packaged
We do our best to use recyclable packaging, and quickly moved towards paper tape and special card bottle boxes with a clever card insert to protect the bottles. We even recycle unsold newspaper from our local shop and use it to wrap around the individual bottles and pad out anything that might move in transit. Our spirits are delivered in packaging which is sealed with our logo branded tape, so if you require the packaging to be a little more discreet, please do add a note to your order requesting this. We cannot remove our information as 'senders' on address labels due to posting guidelines, however we do call ourselves 'OGC' so as not to give too much away. When ordering larger items such as hampers, you may notice some green bubblewrap - it is both green in colour and use, biodegradable and protects your parcel too.
Why we Don't Offer Discounts Often
We are a very small family run business, and as we operate on a small scale in mini batches using only the best quality ingredients, the costs us more than larger outlets. We do our best to keep prices as low as we can for you, and at the moment we offer free shipping. Remember, free shipping doesn't mean it's free for us, costing between £4.50-£9.00 per order, which we are glad to cover as a thank you for supporting us. Due to many factors including those above, this makes it almost impossible to offer discounts. We do, however guarantee what you get is of the best quality and hand-made with love and that we are always so grateful for your business.
